Brooklyn Navy Yard Roof Vents

Brooklyn Navy Yard Roof Vents

Manufacturing Renaissance at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Along the East River in New York located in Brooklyn stands the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s building 128. In Its early days, the Navy yard was the birthplace of many of the U.S. Navy’s legendary warships that fought in World War II and in later conflicts as well. Today’s Brooklyn Navy Yard is being transformed into an exciting and economically viable multi use center. The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) has been developing the nearly 300 acre site into new space for business and commerce providing employment and services for local residents. At the heart of this this project is Building 128. When a variety of custom roof vents were required for Building 128, Maloya was awarded the project.

The roof vents were not available as stock items due to the unique specifications required. Maloya employed their Design/Build expertise to meet the challenge. Due to the large scale of each roof vent special handling methods had to be used to insure a smooth flow through the various work centers. Maloya created the shop drawings necessary in accordance with LEAN manufacturing methods. Special attention was also needed to prepare the roof vents for shipping to avoid any damage in transit to the job site.
