Maloya Metal Fabrication and Manufacturing’s Maspeth Park Flow Skate Park
CHALLENGE
The project, in partnership with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), required that the wall adhere to Bridge building techniques. This introduced a unique set of challenges as Maloya had to align their metal fabrication techniques with the bridge-building standards enforced by NYSDOT. This meant sifting through a myriad of specifications and regulations, some of which were not directly applicable or were ambiguous when it came to a skate park project.
OUR SOLUTIONS
To tackle the regulatory landscape, Maloya started with a comprehensive review of the NYSDOT’s requirements. This deep dive allowed the team to decipher the exact requirements and design a plan of action for the build-out of the skate park wall
Services provided by Maloya during this project included:
Design Assist: This involved collaborating closely with stakeholders to understand the design vision and align it with the structural requirements.
CNC Laser Technologies: Leveraging high-precision cutting tools to achieve intricate designs and ensure exact fitment of the metal components.
CNC Bending & Forming: To give shape and structure to the metal components, ensuring they are seamlessly integrated with the skate park design.
MIG & TIG Welding: Utilized to join the fabricated metal components, ensuring structural integrity and durability.
Assembly: A meticulous process that involved putting all the fabricated pieces together, adhering to NYSDOT’s stringent quality norms.
Finishing: The final touch involved the application of the color-shifting paint, bringing the artistic vision to life.
**Quality Assurance:** A rigorous process where each step was reviewed for compliance with the NYSDOT specifications and quality benchmarks.
Throughout this process, effective communication with the customer played a pivotal role. Any ambiguities in the requirements were ironed out through collaborative discussions. Maloya’s comprehensive shop drawings were particularly instrumental, as they were well-received by NYSDOT and served as a foundation for discussions and problem-solving.
The Outcome
Maloya’s meticulous approach, combined with innovative fabrication techniques, resulted in the successful completion of the metal wall for the Maspeth Park Flow Skate Park. The final product is not only compliant with all NYSDOT regulations but also is a visual testament to Maloya’s commitment to quality, precision, and artistic expression.
The Maspeth Park Flow Skate Park project showcases Maloya’s ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver in a challenging regulatory landscape.
