New York City Esplanade

New York City Esplanade

Decorative Buffer and Screen Walls Along the Esplanade

The Esplanade was designed with views of the Hudson River, New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the New Jersey shoreline. Parks and gardens line the entire route, along with numerous sculptures and public art installations. The Esplanade runs the entire length of Battery Park City, along the Hudson River. The project has received critical acclaim and recognition in national and international award ceremonies, including the Excellence on the Waterfront Award from the Waterfront Center, the 55th Annual P/A Award granted to SHoP Architects and the Design Award from the NYC Public Design Commission.

After four fabrication companies had not been able to succeed in meeting the expectations of the Architect’s design vision, Maloya was chosen to use its design/build, 3D modeling and fabrication skills on the very complex geometry of the “Buffer and Screen Wall” design for the Esplanade. The end result was the beautiful Screen Wall which now may be seen in sections of the New York City waterfront Esplanade.
